Accomplishing Your Long Awaited Goals

Go figure, 3 years after being diagnosed with cancer, I was still the champ. Funny thing was, I still hadn’t accomplished my ultimate physical goal. The martial arts was and is a very crucial part of my life and discipline but, it wasn’t the competitions that were important to me.

In 2004, I gave up my title of undefeated Quanzi martial arts champ to work more on my inner development. My students weren’t very thrilled with the idea I wouldn’t be competing any longer, but the lesson they needed to learn was that the martial arts was not just about defeating your opponent or, winning different belt classes. The purpose of the martial arts was always to find a whole body unity with the inner and outer presence of one’s self.

A few days ago, I was looking through the old martial arts trophies, awards, letters of accreditation and pictures and noticed something pretty odd. I had never reached my physical goal. I sum it up to focusing more on surviving cancer than being at my peak physical state.

But… you know me, I had to think to myself, “How could I use this as a lesson to teach my Critical Mass Awakening Students.” With THAT being said, I decided to challenge someone publicly. NO… I’m not getting back into the ring. To tell you the truth, I don’t even miss that part of the experience. This time, I’m going to call out the ONE opponent that has held me back from achieving my ultimate physical goals AND… I’m going to share the progress of that challenge, over a 90 day period with my Critical Mass Awakening Students.
